Palau
Visitors Authority Announced Multiple Award Winner
of the 2005 PATA GOLD AWARDS
The
Palau Visitors Authority is pleased to announce that
the Pacific Asia Travel Association has awarded two
PATA Gold Awards for 2005 to the Republic of Palau.
This
year the awards
honor the achievements of 24 travel-related organizations
and individuals. The winners will receive their awards
during the 54th PATA Annual Conference in Macau, April
17-21, 2005. Gold Award winners will be presented
their trophies during a special luncheon on April
18th. Palau Visitors Authority Board of Directors
will attend the 54th PATA Annual Conference in Macao
to receive two of the 28 Gold Awards, given to Palau
for the:

“The
Ngarachamayong Cultural Center and the Palau Shark
Sanctuary Fund are testimonies of Palau’s continuous
efforts at protecting its most valuable assets, environment
and cultural heritage, while promoting sustainable
tourism,” commented Jackson Henry, Chairman of the
PVA Board of Directors. “With the world attention
focused on Palau during the showing of Survivor Palau
on CBS, this is one additional milestone in Palau’s
achievement as a travel destination.”
The
Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is the most
prestigious travel organization in the world, whose
membership consists of 77 countries, including public-sector
tourism organizations; air, land and sea carriers;
and organizations engaged in the production, distribution,
financing, consulting, educating and other technical
aspects of the travel industry. PATA continues to
influence the direction of the industry through its
unique membership structure and is a leader for and
about travel to and within the Pacific, focusing on
bringing out the best, while preserving each country’s
unique environmental and cultural assets. Palau has
been a member of PATA for over 20 years.
